Using Keyword Competition Research To Build Business

May 24th, 2010 · No Comments

In the world of marketing one of the hot terms to learn is keyword competition. This is a  simple but effective tool that calculates the popularity of one single keyword or phrase.  In terms of developing a marketing plan, this is a good way to start developing a refined  keyword list.

Using low competition keywords can help out your marketing plan if you use it right. The  tools that are available to you through the search engine are easy to use. You simply  plug in the word or phrase that you want to use and you will basically get an instant  report regarding how popular it is. A broad term like dog is going to be used by a very  large number of people.  You must be familiar with the processes of search  engines.

Search engines offer simple tools to help you determine the keyword competition level on  any given word or phrase. Once you get the keyword research results, you  still have to determine whether it is worth the money, time, and energy to compete with  the simple keyword with a great deal of competition or to drive it down a notch or two  and go for the low competition keywords.

In such cases, the low competition keyword is quite likely to bring more knowledgeable  and profitable clients to your website. There is a simple tradeoff when it comes to  deciphering the keyword competition results. Low competition keywords can result in less  traffic for higher ranking sites but the quality of that traffic can often be better.  There are many instances when this can apply directly to the probability of sales thanks  to a low competition keyword.

This can work with general products as well. It’s becoming more popular to plug in the  model number when using keywords related to electronics. While very few of us will search  out a specific model number, those who are looking for parts or replacement electronics  are more likely to enter the model number. While you won’t get much traffic from using a  model number, those that do visit you will be profitable visitors.

This brings them directly to where they need to be. Most people looking to buy a new  laptop are not likely to compare model numbers via the search engine. This means that  those who would be considered back end users will find you more effectively.

Blending the two can increase your website’s ranking over time. You can choose to focus  only on the low competition keywords, especially when cost is a factor, and build up your  list of phrases based on those words. This is becoming the faster ticket to internet  based success.
